Johnson Training is a specialist training company delivering pool plant and other technical and management training courses. They have successfully delivered hundreds of swimming pool plant operator courses throughout the UK, and have been responsible for training thousands of students/operators.  They have also delivered high level management training programmes for a number of major employers.

James Johnson

Our Principal consultant is Jim Johnson, FAPLT, MCMI, MISPE, ASTA.

Jim is a Fellow of the Alliance of Professional Leisure Trainers (APLT), a Fellow of the Institution of British Engineers, a Member of the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers, an Associate Member of the STA and a Registered Aquatic Professional under the Skills Active RAP’s programme.

His industrial career spans a number of engineering and management disciplines based around engineering building services.

He was formerly a lecturer and then Quality Assurance Manager at Liverpool Community College.

He is also a consultant to a number of local authorities, private sector organizations and a number of Leisure Trusts.

He is a Standards Verifier for one of the leading Active Leisure awarding organisations and a Technical Consultant to Active IQ.

For two years, until June 2015, he represented the APLT on PWTAG.

APLT is a professional body and an elite academy of industry experts who communicate knowledge and good practice, and seek to change attitudes and improve the skills that help leisure professionals become more effective in their workplaces.

Only those trainers that conform to the highest standards are accepted into the Alliance.

Members of the Alliance are required to sign up to the Alliance’s code of conduct.  This is intended to demonstrate to employers that there is a commitment to delivering the highest quality education and training programmes to the highest of professional standards, whilst embracing the ethos of continuous improvement.

Andy Hewitt.

Andy has been working within the Leisure Industry since 1997. For the last 15 years his experience has been in managing Leisure facilities with swimming pools. He is currently manager at the biggest centre in the Wigan borough. He is very passionate about the industry and this clearly comes through when he teaches.

Managing Director

James Johnson

The Managing Director is Jim Johnson, who is also our principal trainer, FAPLT, MCMI, MISPE, ASTA.

He has over 20 years experience in Pool Plant Training and is passionate about this subject and training candidates to the highest standard. Our Customer Reviews are testimony to this.

Operations Director

Emma K

Emma Nicholson, Jim Johnson’s daughter is the Operations Director.  She has  worked for Johnson Training since it’s birth in 1993, at the age of 16, and has been involved in every aspect of the back-office operation. Throughout this time, Emma has studied, gaining various qualifications including a BA Honours and more recently an ILM in Management. She has worked in a variety of companies gaining a breadth of experience and expertise and is now back back at Johnson Training putting in practise all the skills she has honed.
