ISRM National Pool Plant Operators Course (3 day programme)
The aim of this programme is to provide front line staff who work in a swimming pool environment with:
• a thorough knowledge of both the theory and practice of pool water treatment
• an understanding of the various items of plant and equipment
• the ability to interpret water testing results
• an understanding of the importance of energy conservation in relation to swimming pools and their buildings
Course Content:
• The principles involved in maintaining the quality of pool water and the consequences of not doing so.
• The function and operation of major components of swimming pool plant and their role in maintaining good quality pool water
• Characteristics of the incoming water supply and the impact on the management of the pool water
• Pool water chemistry
• The principles and practice of chemical dosing
• Engineering services employed within a swimming pool complex including pumps, valves, calorifiers etc,
• The management of health and safety, including chemical safety, chemical delivery and storage
• The importance of energy management and the significance of Agenda 21, climate change levy issues and the principals of heating, ventilation and heat retention and recovery
This programmes has been completely revised and updated (April 2006), to take into account HSG 179, PAS 39 2003 and the current PWTAG recommendations
ASSESSMENT:
The course is assessed in three ways; 100% attendance, an end test and the completion of a work based assignment
ISRM Pool Plant Operators Foundation Course (1 day)
This Module is a stand-alone course of one day’s duration. It is designed as a basic introduction to anyone interested in swimming pool plant operation who may, or may not, wish to gain the full National Pool Plant Operators Certificate. It is ideal for members of staff who undertake pool water testing and it also provides underpinning knowledge for NVQ units.
ISRM Pool Plant Operator Revalidation Course
This course is aimed at those who currently hold the ISRM National Pool Plant Operators Certificate. The course aims to update knowledge and provide the operative with an appreciation of current trends and standards and to revalidate their certificate for the next three years. Candidates must provide proof of their existing qualification (a copy of their certificate) before they can be accepted onto the course.
