Spa Pool Operator Training Course

The Spa Pool Operator Training Course is taught in 1 day (although it may need to be upgraded to 2 days depending on your particular Spa plant), and will give you the following qualifications: Active IQ Level 2 Award in Swimming Pool Operations  Spa Pool Operating Certificate issued by Johnson Training Ltd. We have designed our courses in a unique way to provide the maximum benefit for organisations who may need staff members training at different levels, dependent on their job role, and the duties expected of them.  There is also a progression route built in to our programmes up to level 4 (Pool Technical Management Diploma), another unique feature of our provision.

As you can see, the Spa Pool Training course is actually Day 1 of the Level 3 three day programme (Active IQ Level 3 Award in Pool Plant Operations), and you will gain a Level 2 in Pool Plant Operations along with the Spa Pool certificate.  This means you can easily upgrade your qualification to a Level 3 by completing two more days at a later date. The Active IQ Level 2 Award is a qualification accredited on the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) and  covers all aspects of pool water testing using the Comparator and Photometer method of testing. This course is assessed by a multiple choice test and a short work based assignment.

Spa Pool Operator Training Course Breakdown

This unit incorporates the following issues:
  • Introduction to spa pools/hot tubs
  • Pollution of spa pool water
  • Spa pool hygiene
  • Spa pool plant and circulation system
  • Chemical treatment of spa pool water
  • Types of filters and backwashing/cleaning of filters
  • Chemical dosing methods
  • Health issues and chemical safety related to spa pools
  • Bacteriological testing of spa pools.
This unit is assessed by completion of a worksheet. Please note that this course is not intended to be product specific, although the trainers have a wide knowledge base and are able to offer advice on a case by case basis. The discussion between learners on the course also is extremely beneficial as candidates share their working practices and knowledge of the Leisure industry. The successful candidate will receive 2 certificates; an Active IQ Level 2 Award in Pool Plant Operations (QCF); and a Spa Pool Operating Certificate issued by Johnson Training Ltd. Progression:
 This qualification provides progression on to Level 2 NVQ in Operational
 Services. Alternatively, learners can progress to the Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Pool Plant Operations. The learner must pass both units to achieve the full qualification.
