Jim Johnson

Managing Director

Our Managing Director and Principal consultant is Jim Johnson, FAPLT, MPWTAG, MISPE, ASTA. who is considered to be one of the most experienced pool plant trainers in the UK and an expert in the field of pool plant operations and associated services.  He has trained thousands of pool plant operators over a thirty year period.

Jim is a Fellow of the Alliance of Professional Leisure Trainers (APLT), a Fellow of the Institution of British Engineers, a Member of the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers, a Member of the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group, an Associate Member of the STA and a Registered Aquatic Professional under the Skills Active RAP’s programme.

His industrial career spans a number of engineering and management disciplines based around engineering building services. He has over 30 years experience in Pool Plant Training and is passionate about this subject and training candidates to the highest standard. Our Customer Reviews are testimony to this.

He was formerly a lecturer and then Quality Assurance Manager at Liverpool Community College.

He is also a consultant to a number of local authorities, private sector organizations and a number of Leisure Trusts.

He is a Lead Standards Verifier for one of the leading awarding organisations and a Technical Consultant to Active IQ.

Matthew Johnson

Operations Manager

Matthew Johnson, Jim’s eldest son, is the latest sibling to join the company as Operations Manager.

He started his working life at the age of 16 as a Tool Maker, obtaining a NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering.

In an ever evolving, and increasingly automated industry, Matthew decided on a complete change of career and started working in Personal Motor Insurance. In a 20-year Motor Insurance career in a customer facing role; he also dealt with Agricultural & Farm Insurance, and large-scale Motor trade Insurance including liaising with the engineering department on technical issues and claims.

With the arrival of two young children, however, it was time for another change in career, and he has now joined the business.

Unsurprisingly, given his previous employment, he has maintained his enthusiasm for motors and cars, and never lost his initial fascination in all things relating to the world of engineering, so the prospect of bringing his customer service skills to the very technical world of pool plant operations is something which he finds exciting and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

He is a keen Bolton Wanderers supporter, having held a season ticket for many years, and although he does confess to not being the most technical skier, he does love visiting Austria and spending a week or two flying down the mountains slopes on two planks of wood.

Emma Nicholson
