Programme Aims:
The aim of this training programme is to refresh the knowledge and understanding required by hot tub operators for the safe and efficient running of commercial hot tubs; to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to be able to competently carry out pool water testing and to understand how to interpret pool readings with reference to the appropriate parameters. This will satisfy the legal requirements for the learner to have training which is suitable, sufficient and current.
Learning outcomes:
Learners will study via an online platform containing recorded sessions and will complete exercises and complete an assessment workbook to enable the learner to:
- Understand the legal responsibilities and obligation of hot tub operators to maintain safe water
- Recognise the sources of guidance available to hot tub operators
- Understand the need for good preparation of the hot tub site
- Understand the nature of pollution of hot tub water
- Understand the need for pre-bathing hygiene
- Understand how the hot tub circulation systems work
- Understand the need for effective chemical treatment of hot tub water
- Know how to test hot tub water
- Know how to respond to test results which are out of range
- Recognise the types of filters used in hot tubs and how they are cleaned.
- Understand the various methods used to chemically treat hot tubs
- Recognise the chemical safety issues related to hot tubs
- Understand the need for the bacteriological testing of hot tubs
- Understand the need for the legionella testing of hot tubs
- Understand the importance of accurate recording of hot tub chemical readings
- Consider the guidance which needs to be given to bathers
- Recognise the importance of HSG 282.
Pre-requisites:
The learner must have already completed the Hot Tub training programme, and must supply proof of prior-learning, unless the course was with Johnson Training Ltd
This is one of a series of programmes developed for a specific market where attendance at a typical pool plant course would not be helpful.  The course content and materials are centred entirely around hot tubs with no unnecessary content.
Assessment:
The programme is assessed by completing an online multiple-choice quiz.
Guided learning hours:
The suggested guided learning hours for this programme are: 7 hours. But, because the training programme is delivered online, you can work at your own speed in the convenience of your own workplace.

This training programme is externally endorsed, not only by Active IQ, the leading awarding organisation in the active leisure sector, but also by CIMSPA, the Chartered Institute for the leisure industry.
Certificate
Once all the lessons have been marked by you as completed, and the quiz successfully passed, the certificate will then be available to view next to the results tab.
