JTL Hot Tub Operator Refresher Training Programme
Aims:
The aim of this training programme is to provide the learner with a refresher course within 3 years of completing the original training course. This will bring the leaner up to date with their knowledge and ensure that the legal requirements are fulfilled, which is that training is suitable, sufficient and current.
Learning outcomes:
Learners will study via an online platform containing recorded sessions and will complete exercises and complete an assessment workbook to enable the learner to:
- Understand the legal responsibilities and obligation of hot tub operators to maintain safe water
- Recognise the sources of guidance available to hot tub operators
- Understand the need for good preparation of the hot tub site
- Understand the nature of pollution of hot tub water
- Understand the need for pre-bathing hygiene
- Understand how the hot tub circulation systems work
- Understand the need for effective chemical treatment of hot tub water
- Know how to test hot tub water
- Know how to respond to test results which are out of range
- Recognise the types of filters used in hot tubs and how they are cleaned.
- Understand the various methods used to chemically treat hot tubs
- Recognise the chemical safety issues related to hot tubs
- Understand the need for the bacteriological testing of hot tubs
- Understand the need for the legionella testing of hot tubs
- Understand the importance of accurate recording of hot tub chemical readings
- Consider the guidance which needs to be given to bathers
- Recognise the importance of HSG 282.
Pre-requisites:
The learner must have already completed the Hot Tub Training Programme within 3 years. Proof must be supplied unless you undertook the course with Johnson Training Ltd.
Assessment:
The programme is assessed by completing a worksheet.

The suggested guided learning hours for this programme are:
7 hours. But, because the training programme is delivered online, you can work at your own speed in the convenience of your own workplace.

To refresh and update an exisiting Hot Tub Operator certificate, to ensure that the learners knowledge is kept suitable, sufficient, and current, in line with the legal requriements for those that deal with hot tub maintenance.
